Julie Oswald
Julie Oswald began working for Bio-Waves, Inc. in 2010. Before that she had collaborated on several projects and papers with Bio-Waves founder/president, Tom Norris. Dr. Oswald has over 15 years experience in the field of marine mammal biology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Oswald completed her PhD in Biological Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego in 2006. Her PhD work focused on developing methods for acoustic species identification of marine mammals. She continued her research focus on acoustic species identification methods and other related research, completing a 2-year post-doc at the University of Hawaii in 2009. Dr. Oswald has extensive field experience in a variety of geographic locations including the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, the Bay of Fundy, and Antarctica. She is an active member of the Acoustical Society of America and the Society for Marine Mammalogy. |
